Goopaleen

When I was a kid, my Italian-American grandmother would crochet winter hats for my grandfather, my parents, my brother and me, which we all referred to as a "goopaleen." This is the Southern Italian dialect for cappellino (hat). As winter approaches, I feel a certain nostalgia for Grandma Nance's goopaleens.
